About
Pillars of Faith

Pillars of Faith is dedicated to upholding and sharing the truth of the Catholic Church with clarity, conviction, and purpose.

Bishop Joseph Edward Strickland, founder of Pillars of Faith, is a successor of the Apostles whose life and ministry are marked by a profound fidelity to Jesus Christ. Grounded in prayer, devoted to the Holy Eucharist and to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and committed to the salvation of souls, Bishop Joseph E. Strickland has served the Church for over four decades as a priest, pastor, teacher, and bishop. Now Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Tyler, he continues his apostolic mission with an even larger flock – shepherding souls across the nation and beyond with truth, courage, and unwavering fidelity to Christ.

He is known for his unwavering defense of the Deposit of Faith, his pastoral heart, and his courageous witness in an age of great moral and doctrinal confusion.

Now through Pillars of Faith, Bishop Strickland continues to speak, write, and teach in defense of the Deposit of Faith – guiding souls to live the Catholic faith with fidelity and boldness.

The name Pillars of Faith finds inspiration in the powerful vision of St. John Bosco, who saw the Church as a great ship in stormy seas – anchored between two mighty pillars: the Holy Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is between these two pillars that the Church finds safety and triumph, even amid the fiercest storms. This vision shapes our mission, anchoring us in Christ and sending us into the world.

The Queen of Heaven

“Who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in array?
– Canticle of Canticles 6:9

This image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Heaven, reminds us that the Church’s mission begins and ends in Heaven. Pillars of Faith was launched on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a feast that proclaims her glorious entrance into Heaven – body and soul – radiant in purity, crowned in victory.

This is no coincidence. From the beginning, this apostolate has belonged to Heaven. Under Mary’s mantle and by Heaven’s design, it was born to help anchor souls in the truth, to lift hearts above the confusion of this world, and to proclaim the kingship of Christ with clarity and love.

This website is more than a platform – it is a gateway to truth, guarded by the Queen of Heaven and pointing always to her Son. May all who visit here be drawn closer to the Heart of Jesus through the intercession of His Mother,  and strengthened to stand as pillars of faith in our time.

St. John Bosco’s
Vision of the Two Pillars

St. John Bosco (1815-1888), was an Italian priest, educator, and founder of the Salesian Order, who was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was gifted with mystical experiences, including dreams and visions, through which God revealed profound spiritual truths.

On May 30, 1862, St. John Bosco recounted a striking dream. “In the midst of this endless sea, two solid columns … one with the statue of the Immaculate Virgin, ‘Auxilium Christianorum’ (‘Help of Christians’), the other far loftier with a great Host, ‘Salus credentium’ (‘Salvation of believers’).”

The Roman Pontiff, commanding the flagship, strains to steer between the columns as enemy fleets hurl “books and pamphlets, incendiary bombs, firearms, cannons.” Twice the Pope is struck down – dying the second time – but is instantly succeeded, and the tide of battle turns. Allied ships rush to moor themselves to the columns; those who have stayed away now follow. In the shelter of Mary and the Eucharist, the sea grows still – “a great calm now covers the sea.”

Bosco believed that no matter how fierce the attacks against the Church, if the faithful clung to these two pillars, the Church would endure and triumph. He often urged his Salesians and all the faithful to deepen their love for Jesus in the Eucharist and to entrust themselves to Mary’s maternal care.

St. John Bosco’s vision of the Two Pillars – the Church anchored securely to the Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary – speaks with prophetic urgency today. In an age of confusion, moral storms, and attacks on truth, his vision reminds us that safety and victory for the Church will only come by clinging firmly to Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament and entrusting ourselves to the sure protection of His Mother.

Help us as we proclaim Christ to a world that has silenced Him – reawakening hearts, restoring truth, and calling souls home.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit apostolate, Pillars of Faith exists to uphold the truth, proclaim Christ without compromise, and labor for the salvation of souls. If you feel called to support this mission through prayer, offering, or other means, we welcome your partnership in the work Christ has entrusted to us.
