THE TRUTH ABOUT VATICAN II

This pastoral letter examines the truth about the Second Vatican Council – its noble intentions, its human frailty, and the infiltration that sought to redirect the Church from within. While some entered the Council desiring genuine renewal, others placed a fragile hope in mercy without definition, and still others used the moment to sow confusion. This letter calls the faithful to read Vatican II in full continuity with the unbroken Magisterium, recognizing that its pastoral nature defined no new dogma. It distinguishes the authentic Council from the false “spirit of Vatican II” that introduced rupture into doctrine, worship, and governance, urging bishops and faithful alike to restore clarity, sacred liturgy, and fidelity to the Deposit of Faith. Its message is clear: renewal must mean holiness, not novelty; mercy must never replace truth; and Christ, “the same forever,” remains the measure of all reform.

 Keep Holy the Sabbath Day

In this pastoral letter, Bishop Strickland calls the faithful to rediscover the sacred gift of the Lord’s Day. Drawing from Scripture, the Catechism, and the wisdom of the saints, he reminds us that Sunday worship is not optional but essential – a divine command and a source of peace, order, and grace. Against the distractions of modern culture, this reflection urges Catholics to anchor their lives in the Eucharist, prayer, and the Rosary, keeping holy the day that belongs to God.
