THE OLD TESTAMENT FINDS ITS FULLNESS IN CHRIST
Throughout this study, we are reading Dei Verbum carefully in continuity with Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the perennial teaching of the Catholic Church – considering both what the text says and how it must be understood within the Faith handed down through the centuries.
In Day Ten, we concluded Chapter Four with sections 15 and 16 and continued focusing on the Old Testament. Far from being merely a collection of ancient histories – or a preliminary work that lost its importance with the coming of Christ – the Old Testament reveals God’s deliberate preparation for the salvation of the human race.
The Old Testament was ordered toward the coming of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of all men. The New Testament is hidden in the Old, and the Old is made Manifest in the New.

If you have missed any of the previous readings, you can find them under the “Writings” tab on our website.
Tomorrow, in Day Eleven, we will begin Chapter Five by examining sections 17 and 18. We will consider the enduring value of the Old Testament and the profound unity of the two Testaments – how the Old prepares for the New, and how the New illuminates and unveils the Old.
May this reading deepen our gratitude for the providence of God, who patiently prepared His people across the centuries and faithfully brought His promises to fulfillment in Jesus Christ.
