“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been proved, he shall receive the crown of life, which God hath promised to them that love him.” (James 1:12)
“For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.” (Ephesians 6:12).
PRAYER
O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, we humbly ask thy intercession for (name), who struggles beneath the burden of addiction.
Obtain for them, we pray, the grace of true repentance, the strength to resist temptation, and the perseverance to rise again when they fall.
Through thy prayers, may they be drawn ever more deeply into the healing mercy of thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. May His grace strengthen their will, restore what has been wounded, and bring healing in body, mind, and soul.
Help them to seek forgiveness where it is needed, to accept the help that God places before them, and to trust not in their own strength, but in the power of Christ working through His Church and the Sacraments He has given for our salvation.
O Mary, Refuge of Sinners and Health of the Sick, do not cease to pray for them, that they may be freed from all that binds them and come to the fullness of life in Christ.
Through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
