Hope & Healing After Abortion

Heavenly Father, rich in mercy and slow to anger, we humbly lift up to You all who promote, support, or participate in abortion: those who perform these acts, those who defend them by law, and those whose hearts have grown hardened against the sanctity of human life.

In Your justice and in Your mercy, we ask that You open their eyes to the grave reality of this sin, to the dignity of every human life created in Your image, and to the sacred responsibility entrusted to them to protect the innocent.

Soften hearts that have grown callous. Dispel the darkness of error and self-deception. Grant the grace of true repentance, that those who have strayed from Your law may return to the truth and seek forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Awaken consciences to the eternal consequences of rejecting Your commandments, and draw all souls back into conformity with Your Divine Will. May nations and laws that permit the taking of innocent life be converted and amended according to Your truth and justice.

Through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

Lord God, Author of life and Creator of every soul, I come before You in sorrow and humility, acknowledging the grave sin I have committed against the life entrusted to me.

In fear, confusion, and weakness, I turned away from You and from Your will. I grieve the life that was lost, and I mourn the wounds this sin has left upon my heart and upon those I love.

But You are rich in mercy and full of compassion. You do not reject the contrite heart nor turn away the sinner who seeks You in truth. With trust in Your mercy, I ask Your forgiveness.

Wash me clean in Your mercy. Heal what has been broken in me. Restore me by Your grace, and draw me back into the fullness of Your love.

Give me the courage to seek reconciliation, the grace to accept healing, and the humility to walk in true repentance.

Do not let my sorrow become despair, but transform it into hope. Unite my suffering to Your redeeming love, and lead me back to You.

Lord, have mercy on me. Bring me home.

Amen.

A WORD OF HOPE: God’s mercy is greater than every sin, and no sorrow is hidden from His Heart. The Catholic Church, as a loving mother, prays for all who carry this wound. If you are Catholic, the Church invites you to receive Christ’s healing mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, where grace is offered and wounded hearts may be restored. If you are not Catholic, know that the Church holds you in compassion and hope, and desires that you experience the healing and peace that come from Christ.

“Human life is sacred and inviolable at every moment of existence, including the initial moment of conception.” (Pope St. John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae)

A PRAYER OF REPENTANCE, MERCY, AND HOPE

Lord God, Creator of all life, visible and invisible, I come before You with humility and sorrow of heart.

I ask Your forgiveness for any part I may have played in the loss of innocent human life, whether through action, through silence, through fear, confusion, or neglect of the truth. I place my trust not in myself, but in Your mercy, which is greater than every sin.

With love and reverence, I entrust this little one to Your compassion. Receive this child into the light of Your presence, held forever in Your love.

Look with mercy upon all parents and families who carry the wounds of abortion. Heal what is broken, console what is sorrowful, and draw every heart back to You, the source of life, forgiveness, and peace.

Pour Your grace into every wounded heart. Bring repentance where it is needed, hope where there is despair, and faith where truth has been obscured.

Teach us to defend every human life with courage, charity, and fidelity to Your will.

Lord, have mercy. Bring us home to You.

Amen.

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.
