Incarceration

O God of mercy and Father of all consolation, who didst will that Thy Son, though innocent and without sin, should freely accept bonds, accusation, and suffering for the redemption of the world, look with compassion upon all who are imprisoned, confined, or forgotten.

Through the intercession of St. Maximilian Kolbe, who endured captivity with heroic charity and offered his life in place of another, grant to prisoners strength in trial, patience in suffering, and hope rooted in Thy justice and mercy.

Where hearts are hardened, grant repentance; where sorrow weighs heavily, grant consolation; where darkness seems unbroken, let the light of Christ shine forth.

Unite their sufferings to the Cross of Thy Son, that through repentance they may be restored, through endurance they may be purified, and through grace they may be led to salvation.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us go therefore with confidence to the throne of grace: that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in seasonable aid.” (Hebrews 4:16)

PRAYER

O Lord Jesus Christ, fountain of mercy and righteous Judge of all men, I humbly come before Thee on behalf of Thy servant (name), who is bound in body, yet never beyond the reach of Thy grace.

Look with mercy upon the offenses by which they have wounded Thee and harmed others; grant them the grace of true repentance, a contrite heart, and the firm resolve to amend their life according to Thy holy will.

In the solitude and trials of imprisonment, heal the wounds of the soul, strengthen them against temptation, and preserve them from despair and from the assaults of the enemy.

Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, obtain for them protection, perseverance, and the light to know that no soul who turns to Thee in humility is ever abandoned or forgotten by God.

May this time of suffering become a season of purification, reparation, and return, so that, reconciled to Thee, they may one day rejoice in the freedom of the children of God.

Amen.
